Santo Domingo.-Nizao, Peravia. The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Orlando Jorge Mera, swore in the Basin Council of the Nizao municipality, Peravia province, in order to socialize aspects that guarantee the sustainable use of ecosystem services provided by hydrographic basins for socioeconomic and environmental, having as central axis the water resource.

The implementation of this council is carried out giving continuity to the launch of the Project for the Integral Management of Priority Hydrographic Basins, promoted by President Luis Abinader, under the direction of the Ministry of the Environment, in June of last year.

With the swearing in of the Basin Council of the Nizao municipality, the process of recovery of these priority basins begins, in which are: Nizao, Haina, Ozama-Isabela, Yaque del Norte, Yaque del Sur, Artibonito, Yuna-Camú and Ocoa, that in the same way will allow maintaining the forest cover in fundamental areas.
